Effective May 30, 2011, the Philippine government bans smoking in public places. Anyone who will be caught violating this law will be penalized. P500 at the first offense or an eight-hour community service. The say that they are more after the people's health.

They are requiring malls and restaurants to have a smoking area for smokers.
